History of Organization |

The Union of Health Work Committees (UHWC), a Palestinian
non-governmental organization, provides holistic health care to
the population in
Palestine.
Over 220,000 people throughout Palestine benefit from the UHWC's
services every year.
Through its focus on marginalized sectors of society, the UHWC is
committed to raising the level and quality of primary health
care services within the community, concentrating its efforts to
ensure that all individuals and families have equal access to
quality health care.
In fostering community participation, self-reliance, and a sense of
social justice, the UHWC actively promotes the personal and
collective maturity necessary to build a society based on social
justice and respect for human rights.
Since its foundation in 1985, UHWC continued in upgrading its service
throughout Gaza Strip and
West Bank. |

Objectives |
|
|
|
All programs and projects and
programs of the UHWC are founded on the belief that adequate
health care the micro-level of society, through creating models
of national health care provision will effect positive change
and contribute to improve quality of life at the micro-level.
Towards this end, the UHWC has the following goals:

To contribute the building
of a sound health infrastructure in Palestine

To participate in the
formulation of national health care policies

To ensure accessibility of
adequate health care services to all people regardless of
race, sex, religion and political affiliation

To increase awareness of
health care needs of marginalized sectors of society

To contribute actively in
the building of a civil society in Palestine

As an
organization committed to efficiency, competency, and
transparency, the UHWC's internal priorities are the following:

Administrative proficiency regarding organizational structure,
division of responsibility and governance policy and
transparency and credibility.

Appropriate channels of accountability in professional,
educational, administrative and financial areas. Human
resource development.

Cooperation and coordination with local and international
organizations.

nominal treatment fees and various fundraising activities inside
the community. UHWC has a
