Brief History of Organization

 

The Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy (PCPD) is a non-profit, non-governmental Palestinian institution that aims to mobilize support for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East, based on the implementation of UN resolutions 242 and 338 that recognize Palestinian people’s legitimate rights to self determination and to establish their independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and with 4 June 1967 boarders. As well as, the implementation of UN Security Council’s resolution 194 concerning the Palestinian refugees’ right to return.

 

 

Vision

 

The Center is dedicated to promoting concepts of democracy, peace, human rights, social justice and civic education in the Palestinian society.

 

 

Objectives

 

  • The PCPD implements its goals through a series of forums, seminars, conferences, training courses, workshops, and newsletter publications.

  •  Mobilizes the Palestinian people in a full spectrum of locations including towns, villages and refugee camps to support the peace process, democracy and human rights issues, regardless of their political affiliations, or their social or religious backgrounds.

Seminars

That unite Palestinians from different social and professional backgrounds, to discuss issues pertaining to the political and socio-economic conditions of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip during, and after, the interim period of self-government.

 

 

Workshops

On democracy and conflict resolution in the Palestinian society.

 

 

Workshops

Between representatives of the Palestinian Executive and legislative Authorities and the Palestinian public.

 

 

Training courses

On leadership, management and negotiation.

 

 

Training courses

On human rights and peace education to educators and teachers working with students.

 

 

Observing and monitoring the reaction of the Israeli public opinion to the peace process

 

 

Promoting an understanding of the Israeli society by conducting joint projects with Israeli institutions where different groups from different sectors are brought together

 

 

Hosting foreign researchers and experts interested in the direct exchange of expertise.

 

 

Field trips

to other countries to analyze and observe alternative democratic models and their relevance to the Palestinian case.
